Appearance: White granular solid or white powdery solid. The solubility varies with the degree of substitution of hydroxyl groups by ethoxy groups in cellulose. The softening point of the product containing 47% ethoxy group is 140 ℃. Dissolved in most organic compounds such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, benzene, toluene, xylene, acetone, methanol, ethanol, butanol, 1,2-dichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride, etc., it can be mixed with resins, oil waxes, and plasticizers, does not work with bases and dilute acids, and is insoluble in water. Relative density 1.07-1.18; Refractive index 1.47; Ethyl cellulose is a non-ionic cellulose ether that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.
