Product Description: A dry powder suitable as a substrate for neuraminidase.Bovine submaxillary mucin has a molecular weight of 4 ~ 40×105Da.The molecule consists of major and minor components with a protein moiety(36.6% of the molecula) and a carbohydrate moiety(56.7 of the molecule)
Properties: White or yellowish-brown powder. The sugar chain in mucin accounts for more than 50% of the total molecular weight, sometimes up to 80%. Monoglycans are bound to the side chains of nucleoproteins by O-glucoside bonds and to each other by covalent bonds to form giant molecules with molecular weights of millions. The molecules contain a lot of water, forming colloids, covering the surface of the mucous membrane.
Uses: Biochemical research. Mucin is the main component produced by epithelial cells and plays a role in protecting and lubricating cells. This product is for scientific use only
